ITINERARY
DAY 1: HOBART - STRAHAN
Today, travel to Mount Field National Park, where you can stretch your legs on the Russell Falls and Tall Trees walks. Continue on to Lake St Clair for a view of Australia’s deepest lake. Enroute to Strahan, enjoy hiking and exploring Franklin Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. Spend tonight in exclusive accommodation in the historic coastal township of Strahan where your guide will fill you in on the amazing history of pining, mining and convicts! (LD)
DAY 2: STRAHAN - CRADLE MOUNTAIN REGION
This morning enjoy the intriguing history of Strahan with options to suit everyone! Take a stroll along the foreshore or up the Water Tower Hill for a priceless lookout over Macquarie Harbour and Ocean Beach; walk through a rainforest to Hogarth Falls (if you are quiet and lucky you may even spot a platypus); if you are feeling more adventurous arrange with your guide to canoe in a nearby lake (at no extra cost). Later, take a walk through the Henty Sand Dunes, where you can even take a quad bike tour (at own expense). In the afternoon visit the ‘Silver City’ of Zeehan. In the late afternoon you’ll have the opportunity for a bicycle ride (included) at our overnight lodge accommodation. (BLD)
DAY 3 CRADLE MOUNTAIN - DEVONPORT
Discover the World Heritage Cradle Mountain National Park. Enjoy the pure air with a guided walk around Dove Lake with views of Cradle Mountain, or challenge yourself with a more strenuous hike (unguided). Spend this afternoon exploring more of the state’s mid north before our arrival in Devonport. (BL)
