Travel to East Kimberley
Stretching across the northern region of Western Australia and into the Northern Territory, the Kimberley was one of the earliest settled parts of Australia, with the first arrivals landing about 40,000 years ago. This stunning area of Australia consists of ancient, steep-sided mountain ranges with sandstone and limestone gorges and steep ridges making it hard to transverse on foot, but an amazing sight from the air. The Eastern region of the Kimberly is flatter with dry tropical grasslands often used for cattle ranching. Take in heli-fishing, boat cruising on the many rivers or wildlife spotting with saltwater crocodiles, water buffalo, wallabies and an abundance of birdlife on offer. Visit ancient Aboriginal rock art sites and discover the significance of this area to their culture through their art and dreamtime stories.
The Northern Territory occupies about one sixth of Australia’s total land mass, with a population of about 200,000, and is known around the world for its iconic natural treasures, including the World-Heritage-listed national parks of Kakadu and Uluru-Kata Tjuta (Ayers Rock) and an ancient Aboriginal culture.
