Come walk with me in the forest
Maori people are the indigenous people of New Zealand (Aotearoa). Their culture is a rich and varied one, and includes traditional and contemporary arts such as carving, weaving, kapa haka (group
performance), whaikorero (oratory) and moko (tattoo), which are practiced throughout the country. Travel from Auckland to the Waipoua Lodge, a remote and tranquil area that is close to crystal clear lakes and endless sandy beaches. Learn about the oldest and largest known kauri trees in the world. Your guide will interpret Maori stories with song and instruments.
Head further north to the Bay of Islands. Your days are at leisure to discover the bay, swim with the dolphins or laze away the hours in a café overlooking the water. On one night you’ll see a show, on location at Waitangi, that brings New Zealand’s culture to life from Maori to European settlement.
Travel to Auckland and spend two nights in this cosmopolitan city. A half-day experience to the ancient Maori carvings and black sand beach of Piha on Auckland’s West Coast is included. After a scenic drive to Rotorua you’ll arrive at the award-winning Treetops Lodge and Wilderness Experience.
