South Australia

Adelaide

Adelaide, South Australia’s capital city, is renowned for its compact size and accessibility. Colonel William Light’s vision in 1836 saw the city streets designed in a grid pattern surrounded by parklands. This safe and clean city is only one square mile, yet boasts many distinctive attractions: North Terrace is the main boulevard and home to the major hotels, the Adelaide Casino, the Railway Station, Old Parliament House, the Convention Center and Adelaide Festival Center. A short stroll eastwards is the South Australian Museum, which contains the largest collection of Aboriginal artifacts in the world. The eastern end is home to the Botanical Gardens and the National Wine Center. The Center offers wine tastings, classes, temporary exhibitions, and information on all wine regions in Australia.

Festivals and food. Arts and culture. Shopping and sports. This is Adelaide—the city where there’s always something on. Whether you want to party or relax, South Australia’s capital has it all. With spacious boulevards and vibrant inner-city districts, sophisticated architecture and lush gardens, it’s the perfect venue for all sorts of activities—big or small.

Immerse yourself in the culture of the city’s North Terrace, with its museums and libraries OR indulge in retail therapy at Rundle Mall. Later sample the variety of tastes on offer at the famed Adelaide Central Market. You might prefer to follow in the footsteps of sporting champions at the world-famous Adelaide Oval. Or enjoy a retreat to the cosmopolitan seaside suburbs of Glenelg and Brighton. In Adelaide, there is a brilliant blend of things to see and do. All you have to do is choose.
