ITINERARY
Day 1 Arrive Auckland
On arrival in Auckland you will make your way to the car rental area and collect your vehicle for the next 8 days. Overnight: Auckland, Duxton Hotel Auckland for 2 nights.
Day 2 Auckland at Leisure
Today is free for you to explore Auckland at your own pace.
Day 3 Auckland Bay of Islands
Today journey from Auckland to the famous Bay of Islands. Overnight: Bay of Islands, Copthorne Hotel & Resort Paihia for 3 nights.
Day 4 Hole in the Rock Adventure
Welcome aboard the most popular tour in the Bay of Islands! Your journey will take you through fishing waters to the Cape Brett Lighthouse before reaching the famous ‘Hole in the Rock’ traditionally known as Motukokako. If conditions allow you will actually journey through the hole, sit back and enjoy the return trip as you meander through the islands and secluded bays.
Day 5 Evening Cultural Show
This evening journey to the famous Waitangi Treaty Grounds for a show which brings New Zealand’s culture to life through light and theatre. This intimate experience will introduce you to the story and history of New Zealand.
Day 6 Bay of Islands to Coromandel
Today take the leisurely drive from the Bay of Islands to Whangamata on the Coromandel Peninsula. Overnight: Whangamata, Brenton Lodge for 2 nights.
Day 7 Nature Walk
Today sample the Coromandel Peninsula’s natural heritage and scenic beauty on your full day nature walk. Visit old historic gold caves sparkling with glowworms, and view the stunning coastal scenery. Your day tour includes the fully guided walk, lunch and hotel transfers.(B, L)
Day 8 Coromandel to Rotorua
Today drive your rental car to the geothermal and cultural heart of New Zealand, Rotorua. The day is at leisure on arrival. Overnight: Rotorua, Duxton Hotel Okawa Bay for 2 nights.
Day 9 Rotorua City Sights and Maori Concert and Feast
Today you will explore some of Rotorua’s fantastic geothermal and cultural offerings. This morning you will visit Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve, Rainbow Springs and the interactive Agrodome Sheep Show. This evening you will experience the truly unique and ‘must do’ Maori Concert and Hangi Dinner. You will be transferred to the Tamaki Maori Village to learn of the culture, food and lifestyle of the traditional people of New Zealand. (B, D)
Day 10 Rotorua to Queenstown
Make you way to the airport to return your rental car, then board your flight to Queenstown on the South Island. Overnight: Queenstown, Browns Boutique Hotel for 3 nights. (B)
Day 11 Milford Sound Small Group Tour
Travel along the shores of Lake Wakatipu and the rugged Remarkables mountain range to Te Anau. After morning tea you will enter the Fiordland National Park and make your way to the amazing Milford Sound. Board your boat for a cruise on the sound which includes lunch before taking the leisurely journey back to Queenstown. (L)
Day 12 Shotover River Jet Boat Ride
Get ready for an exciting start to the day! Your jet boat ride will have you traveling at high speeds just inches from sheer rock faces, around rocky outcrops and doing 360 degree spins, all in just a few inches of water. This is ‘must do’ Queenstown experience.
Day 13 Depart Queenstown
Your day is at leisure until your transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
