ITINERARY

DAY 1
Arrive in Queenstown to begin your romantic escape, spending as much time together doing as little or as much in New Zealand’s spectacularly set adventure capital.

Rugged mountains, majestic lakes, crystal clear air, and just so much to do. From bungy jumping to wine trails, jet boating to tramping, dining out to skiing, the tricky part is extending your stay to try and fit everything in.

The area has captured hearts and imaginations since the first Maori came in search of pounamu (greenstone) and the giant Moa bird. More recently, gold miners, adventurers, filmmakers, wine enthusiasts, Hollywood stars and US Presidents have been drawn to this magical region and its intense alpine energy.

Luxury personified in downtown Queenstown, the new Sofitel offers 82 stylishly designed rooms and suites. Enjoy romantic touches of rich textiles, warm tones and soft, plush throw rugs. Vie restaurant offers exceptional cuisine and the cozy haven of Nue Lounge is the perfect place to relax, enjoy a cocktail and meander through the many books on offer in the library. An attentive and dedicated team complete the Sofitel experience.

DAY 2
This day is all about exploring Queenstown, one of the most popular cities in New Zealand.

You will be transferred just out of town to Glenorchy for an exhilarating jet boat ride. Enjoy a one-hour ride along the Dart River among towering mountains and the refreshingly beautiful wilderness of the Mt Aspiring National Park. Take a short and easy walk, of 20-40 minutes, through ancient forests, unchanged for 80 million years, before an informative and entertaining commentary on the area and its history including the quest by early Maori for highly prized pounamu (greenstone).

Dine for lunch at an historic pub in Glenorchy which hosts stockmen, shearers, and shepherds from some of the world’s remotest sheep stations, alongside tourists and hikers who have just finished the Routeburn Track.

Returning to Queenstown, drive to the top of Coronet Peak for great views over the Queenstown area, then back down to enjoy a visit to Arrowtown. This town is an example of a living historic gold-mining town. Strict preservation orders protect the originality of the town’s historic buildings, and the excellent Lakes District Museum has many displays pertaining to the pioneering past of the district. Enjoy a delightful homemade afternoon tea by the river edge, and may even have time to enjoy panning for gold.

Continue to the Kawarau Bridge to watch the action at the world’s first bungy bridge jump, established in November 1988. The Kawarau Bungy Centre is an ecologically designed building which has been created in harmony with the unique landscape of the region and gives you excellent views of the 150 foot jump. Be amazed as you watch people launch themselves into the air and beyond.

The last stop on the way home is the Amisfield winery. Their winemaking philosophy revolves around the fact that quality wine is grown not made. A blend of ancient and modern winemaking techniques ensures their wines are true to their site, climate, cultivar and culture. You will get to taste award winning Pinot Noir as well as a great selection of whites, before heading back to your hotel.

DAY 3
Enjoy your time at leisure. Stay in and snuggle, or venture out for thrillng adventure and excitement, holding each other tight. The choice is yours.

DAY 4
Today you will be transferred from hotel to airport, continuing your romantic adventure.
