Le Meridien Bora Bora is the ideal place for a wedding ceremony or an unforgettable honeymoon.

OTEMANU Traditional Polynesian Ceremony:

Facing a beautiful sunset and in an enchanting setting, Le Méridien Bora Bora offers you a traditional wedding ceremony complete with costumes, Polynesian dances and an officiating priest. In their bungalow, the bride and the groom are dressed by the “Mamas”. One Mama for the groom and one for the bride. The groom (Tané) is taken on board a Polynesian canoe directly from the Overwater bungalow with an accompanying Tahitian dancer, they cross the lagoon accompanied by “Pou” and “Pahu” melodies (shellfish melody) played by the band and dancers that stayed on the beach.

The bride (Vahine), sitting on a “Pomare” chair, is taken through a land route to the wedding ceremony, accompanied by her bridesmaids and escorted by Maohi in accordance to the tradition.  The priest welcomes the bride and the groom on the beach with a folk group performing to the ceremonial music. The priest invokes the three elements (Heart, Water and Air) as well as the Tahitian divinities, in order to start the wedding benediction. The bride and groom and their escorts will proceed to the worship place to the tune of local music.

Through a Tahitian speech, the priest invokes the god “Taaroa” to solemnize the bride and groom in their union. Hands clasped together, the bride and groom are blessed with coco milk and bad spirits are expelled. The bride and groom then drink the green coco milk or Daiquiri. The newly weds will then change their costume to receive the garland of flowers and wedding certificate in “Tapa” (without legal value).

At the end of the ceremony, the priest takes the newly weds back to the beach. In a pirogue, they are taken on board a boat where they will enjoy the sunset whilst drinking Champagne and enjoying the canapés. In the evening, a romantic dinner is served to the newly weds at their choice venue of either the bungalow terrace, at the restaurant or on the beach.
