DAYS 2 - 4
Your stay in Port Vila is yours to enjoy and discover at your leisure. Port Vila, the sleepy capital, is set within a magnificent natural harbor. It is a charming potpourri of cultures, blending elements of Melanesian, English, French and Chinese tastes.
Cosmopolitan in character, with modern buildings and a fine natural harbor, the town is the country’s chief port. Its proximity to Australia has enabled Port-Vila to develop as a tourist center.
Wander through rows of tropical fruits, vegetables, flowers, shells, artifacts, coconut crabs and souvenir stalls. Savour the aroma of brewed coffee and freshly baked pastries tinged with the scent of blooming frangipani.
Probably the most fascinating landmark of Vanuatu’s capital is the Cultural Center, which contains one of the most extensive artifact collections in the South Pacific.
But these are only a few of the sights and interests in Port Vila - after all, half the fun of a vacation is discovering these things for yourself!
DAY 5
Today you will travel to the island of Santo. Santo is the largest and oldest island in the group, with the greatest range of natural sights, Espiritu Santo is a truly romantic island and a great place for diving. Spend two nights here at the Bokissa Eco Island Resort. Out on the frontier of the Pacific exists the original coral eco island, Bokissa, in an atmosphere that’s a little wild - and seriously private.
If you long for a mix of adventure and seclusion, big wreck scuba diving and lazy afternoon hammock siestas, marlin fishing and poolside candlelit dinners, private beachfront snorkelling and fine table wines, tropical rainforest walks and air-conditioned private bungalows, then you will love Bokissa!
DAY 6
Today is yours at leisure to simply relax on Santo or discover. Santo is Vanuatu’s largest island, and is fascinating in its diversity.
Santo has Vanuatu’s highest mountains, Mt Tabwemasana, which rises out of dense vegetation covering an entire chain that runs along the full length of the island on the western side. This also makes Santo home to many species of beautiful orchids and interesting birds. Divers are drawn to Santo by its famous wrecks and spectacular marine life. The President Coolidge, Million Dollar Point and pristine dive sites on the east coast and near Elephant Island, are just a few of the many depths to explore.
