ITINERARY

The Ni-Vanuatu people are a peaceful, loving, gentle race, who enjoy life’s simpler pleasures in a country of unique and diverse customs and culture. Vanuatu is a land of volcanoes and magic, underwater ship wrecks, ancient art and dance, waterfalls and blue holes, organic foods and a myriad of hidden bays and beaches.

DAY 1
Welcome to Vanuatu! On arrival, transfer to the Erakor Island Resort. Erakor Island Resort is a beautiful unspoiled Island paradise, situated on its own private 16 acre island surrounded by white sandy beaches and crystal clear water. The Resort has a 24 hour, complimentary ferry from the capital city of Port Vila, which is only a 5 minute bus ride away. Enjoy the beauty of staying on a quiet tropical island with easy access to everything off the island. Erakor offers all the facilities of a major resort, but in a relaxed and secluded atmosphere of its own. Stay in one of 21 unique absolute waterfront bungalows among tropical palm trees offering spectacular views and the sound of water lapping at the shore. Enjoy the rest of your day at leisure to explore the resort.

DAY 2 - 4
Your time at the Erakor Island Resort is yours at leisure from which to explore and discover Port Vila and its many wonders. Port Vila, the sleepy capital, is set within a magnificent natural harbor. It is a charming potpourri of cultures, blending elements of Melanesian, English, French and Chinese tastes.

Cosmopolitan in character, with modern buildings and a fine natural harbor, the town is the country’s chief port. Its proximity to Australia has enabled Port-Vila to develop as a tourist center.

Wander through rows of tropical fruits, vegetables, flowers, shells, artifacts, coconut crabs and souvenir stalls. Savour the aroma of brewed coffee and freshly baked pastries tinged with the scent of blooming frangipani.

Probably the most fascinating landmark of Vanuatu’s capital is the Cultural Center, which contains one of the most extensive artifact collections in the South Pacific.

But these are only a few of the sights and interests in Port Vila - after all, half the fun of a vacation is discovering these things for yourself!

DAY 5
Transfer and fly to the outer island of Tanna. Tanna Island is famous for its volcano, wild horses, visits to custom villages and the cargo cults that have grown here.

You will enjoy the hospitality of the White Grass Ocean Resort on the island of Tanna. The White Grass Ocean Resort has rapidly earned the reputation of The Quintessential Tanna Experience. The leading resort in Tanna with its well maintained facilities, and friendly and efficient services, sits on a long extinct lava flow now covered by lush vegetation, and a white sand beach with 6 acres of expansive landscaping. The resort’s a la carte restaurant and lounge bar, face magnificent views of sunsets over the horizon. Fresh fish, lobster and island dishes are the order of the day.

You can expect the best from your experienced hosts Bev and Rod Petterson who will ensure you have an enjoyable and memorable stay. English and French are spoken at the resort. All 12 well appointed bures face spectacular sea views with pristine coral snorkeling, whale and dolphin watching.

DAY 6
Tanna is one of the islands where culture and custom are still very strong. Today you will take time to travel into the forest to visit some custom villages. Many villages have turned their backs on the modern ways and prefer their traditional way of life. Strict adherents follow a traditional lifestyle, wearing only grass skirt or nambas and not participating in any government services (such as public school). You will see lots of tropical product when you visit Tanna. Tanna’s land is one of the most productive in Vanuatu and produces Kava, coffee, coconut, and many other fruits and vegetables.

The major attraction of Tanna is Mt. Yasur, known as the world’s most accessible active volcano. You will enjoy a tour to this fascinating site and learn of the wonders of this active formation. This tour arrives at the volcano in time to see the sunset and view the volcano both by daylight and night.

DAY 7
Return to Port Vila and overnight once more at the Erakor Island Resort.

DAY 8
Transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
