Broken Hill is the first city in Australia to be included on the National Heritage list due to its outstanding heritage significance to the country. The town is home to the world’s largest silver, lead and zinc mine and also known for its thriving arts community and access to outback Australian film locations.
Visit The Palace Hotel, used as a stopover for the characters in the 1994 movie “Priscilla Queen of the Desert”. Many of the favorite scenes were filmed in and around Broken Hill and throughout various locations within the Palace Hotel.

Discover Silverton, a living, breathing part of Australia’s history. Even people who have never been there will recognize it, as Silverton has starred in countless films, television shows and commercials in all mediums. Once a bustling home to 3,000 people, residents began to leave in the 1880s when the nearby mines of Broken Hill surfaced. These days less than 50 people call Silverton home and only a handful of buildings dot the landscape.

Board the Indian Pacific train and travel overnight to Sydney, winding your way through the magnificent Blue Mountains provides ample opportunity to kick back and reflect.
