The Flinders Ranges are stunningly beautiful and feature National Parks and icons, such as Wilpena Pound, with towering rock walls, spectacular gorges, abundant wildlife and Aboriginal culture and rock art.  This is one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth and here you’ll find the most significant geological and fossil sites in the world.  Wilpena Pound can be explored by good, a 4WD tour or by chartered flight.  St Mary’s Peak, the highest point of the ranges, offers panoramic views after a challenging trek. 

The region is the perfect destination to experience native Australian foods and their preparation on one of its unique food tours.  Look out for local specialties including quandongs, olive oil, dried fruits, pistachio nuts, as well as the locals’ favorite Golden North Ice Cream.  In terms of wine, the Southern Flinders Ranges is one of the newest wine regions in South Australia, and over 20 wineries produce ranges of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Reisling.

The Flinders Ranges are a five-hour drive north of Adelaide. Regional flights depart from Adelaide to Port Augusta most days and charter flights are available.
