Located in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, the Whitsundays comprises 74 tropical islands and the Whitsunday Coast in a geographic area of only 100 miles.  This means that visitors can easily enjoy all that the Whitsundays has to offer - from Great Barrier Reef trips and scuba diving to island hopping and sailing, as well as golfing, parasailing, sky diving and fabulous dining.

Whitsunday Island, the largest in the group boasts Whitehaven Beach - a dazzling expanse of pure white silica sand that stretches for as far as the eye can see.  Eight of the islands in the Whitsundays are resort islands, all varying in size and style to capture a different mood.  The island resorts include Hamilton, Hayman, Daydream, Brampton, Long Island Peppers Palm Bay, Whitsunday Wilderness Lodge, Lindeman, Hook and South Molle Island.

The islands and resorts are easily accessible by boat or plane from Shute Harbour on the coast or from Hamilton Island.  Queensland Rail Tilt Train services Proserpine which is approximately 17 miles from Airline Beach with shuttle transfers meeting most services.
